In honour of Pride, Queerics is hosting a give-away, and they asked (among other options) for a post on a queer artist that "melts your heart." So I decided to make the Epic Klaus Nomi Pimp Post I've been meaning to do for ages.

Sadly, it's not going to be all that epic, because his career was short and ended with his untimely death. But please give this fantastically queer, fantastically strange performer a chance, anyway.

You Don't Nomi )

So now you know Klaus Nomi, one of the most interesting queer artists of the last few decades. Now go and join the Queerics give-away and make some queer music posts of your own!

01. This visualization of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is beautiful. (And it makes me sad, because it makes you realize how few of these rights are actually observed, across the world but even in our supposedly educated, free Western world. Right to marriage, anyone?)

02. Completely unrelated, a random thought that I had on the train home from work: Which three instruments would you most like to learn how to play? I realized that mine would be the drums, accordion and theremin. *facepalm* Hey, why learn something easy and/or practical?

03. We ended up skipping the Kill Hannah show last night, because we were too beat. Instead we watched "Planet Terror" (I hadn't seen it before, and it's fantastic!) and some Mighty Boosh. I'd say we're the lamest, if we didn't have other stuff lined up. (FOB tomorrow! :D )

04. This tattoo is awesome.

This is the best thing I've read in weeks.

(P.S. Just wanted to say, I'm kind of moody and failing at commenting, but I'm reading everything. So, general *hugs* to all who need them, and a big "yay!" for all who deserve it. Once job search and everything is done I'll hopefully be back at full power.
herzverstreut_bu: (Misc - berlin is for lovers)
Now that I am in possession of a non-shitty camera, I obviously have to join Project 365. In order not to spam you even more than I already do, there's now a separate blog for those photos:

From Wedding With Love

(Tentatively titled until I come up with something that doesn't suck.)

So if you want to see random pics from Berlin and my life, go there.

Bollywood party tonight, haha. That is so not my scene, but it sounds like it's going to be fun. Off to prettify myself now!

(P.S. Yes, I'm neglecting fandom at the moment. Promise that's going to change soon!)

This is the cutest little flash game EVER*. Little piggies floating on bubbles! And you have to pile them so they can reach the cupcakes! PRECIOUS OINKING CARTOON PIGGY PILES, PEOPLE. ♥

*Except for Parapluesch. That will never stop being the best. Ohhhh, and they have a new patient! Must go and play right now.

P.S. Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] adellyna! :)

a) A belated Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] gamiila! :)

b) As long as most of you stay here, I'm not going to leave LJ, but just in case:

scatterheart@JF | seltsam@GJ | scatteredheart@IJ
wideocean@last.fm | scatterheart@twitter | wide_ocean@myspace

In case LJ explodes tomorrow, you shouldn't have a problem tracking me down. :|

c) All around anonymous love-in meme edited away after some hours, because ok, that meme didn't make much sense, did it? Maybe I'll spread some happy later on in a different way. :) *lmao* Ok, editing it in again. I have weird issues sometimes, ok? So, love meme that won't leave anyone sad that nobody mentioned them:

In the comments to this post, leave some anonymous love. BUT! You can't name names. Just write down whatever you want to say to your friends/crushes/cats/etc. and let everyone share the love! Yay!

Anon on, IP-logging off, yadda yadda. This layout sucks, so you'll need to click "more options" to comment anonymously.

d) Also, ETA: I've fallen muchly in love with The Office. ♥

I was meaning to go to bed, because even several cups of coffee and an afternoon nap couldn't make up for having slept maybe two consecutive hours last night, thank you, thunderstorm and neighbours that like to wake me up at six a.m. Then I came across these picspams of women in bandfandom and now I really really crave some femslash or het or even just more pictures or quotes or something.

Things that I just learned )

Conclusion: Girls are awesome.

... LJ is going to let me post? So: New crack: The Hype Machine. Founds gems such as another strange music blog and Berlin Underground 1979-1983 (has 2 very early Neubauten tracks I've never heard, even)

Life otherwise: meh. Watched Pirates, liked it. Want to post cryptic emo entries, good thing LJ is a bitch. Am still into bandom. TTYL?

While researching an incident with some oracle cards today*, I came across an old CD I had with a whole bunch of ebooks on esoteric and paranormal topics. My first thought on reading the titles again was "Huh, some of that stuff could be quite useful on a hunt." Then I realized what a huge dork I was. Then I figured "Well, I'm certainly not the only one. I should share."

Most of the really wacky interesting ones are German translations, but here are some of the English ones, all .pdf format.

Goetia - First part of the Lesser Key of Solomon, a 17th century book on demonology. Contains a list of demons/evil spirits, their symbols and how to conjure them.
Ars Theurgia Goetia - Second part of the Lesser Key of Solomon, contains a list of ambiguous spirits, their symbols and how to conjure them. (Both of these are translated/edited by Samuel Mathers and Aleister Crowley.)

Aleister Crowley: The Book of Lies - A whole bunch of chaotic snippets on various topics, but no self-respecting occultist should go without a bit of Crowley. *nods*

E.A. Wallis Budge: The Egyptian Book of the Dead - All sorts of ancient Egyptian mysticism, including prayers and spells.

Tom Graves: Needles of Stone - Deals with megalithic stone monuments, "earth energy" and related stuff.

There's some good stuff at Esoteric Archives as well, basically all the old grimoires you need. ;) Check out Johann Weyer's "Pseudomonarchia Daemonum", a 16th century catalogue of demons.

* For those interested in the card incident )

If you're interested in queer history, queer music or even just strange songs, you must check out Queer Music Heritage and especially their page on 60s record label Camp Records - two freely downloadable albums, one with song titles like "Florence of Arabia" or "Stanley the Manly Transvestite", the other with classic love songs sung by men instead of women.

If you adore Kyle Gallner as much as I do, or if you are a fellow Cassidy apologist, take a look at this interview.

If you're interested in football and need a laugh, go look at [livejournal.com profile] lennongirl's photo story A Tale of Pants and Boners.

If you're an icon maker, go to [livejournal.com profile] 10variations, sign up and post something other than Japanese musicians I've never heard of. (I've recently joined the mod team over there, so I'm allowed to randomly pimp. :-p ) It's fun, I promise! Almost 300 members can't be wrong!

If you're into Supernatural, rec me fic. Please? *puppy eyes* Preferably Wincest or character studies, preferably not too spoilery for the second half of the season (though I don't mind being spoiled for that show much). What? I said it's a nice show, but I won't get into the fandom? ... Lalala, never happened. :">

And because I can't resist a meme (or voicing my opinion, for that matter): The 'Ask my Fandom Opinion thing )

Footie talk is taking over )

ETA3: (What? Saturdays are slow.) Icon Truth Meme. If you ever wanted to let me know how much I suck something, here's your chance!

There are fireworks going off somewhere and I can hear, but not see them. No fun. *mopes*

Posted a bunch of new footie icons (mostly really simple ones/bases) here. LESS THAN ONE DAY! *bounces* Yes, I am excited, just in case you hadn't noticed already.

This interview is both awesome (because Jon Stewart pwns that guy) and terrifying (because Bill Bennett's views on gay marriage are so completely DUMB and yet you know that he - and so many others - won't be convinced even by logic *sigh*)

Dammit! I wanted to post at 06:06 p.m., but now it's 06:09 already. (Edit: Or 17:54, if LJ is to be believed. Hm.) Anyways, no fire or brimstone yet, how boring. And I had to work, after all, even though schizophrenicSatan herself said I wouldn't have to. *pouts*

Uhm, yes. So much for my obligatory 06/06/06 entry. If you want something more interesting (and educational, even!) check out this awesome page full of info about Victorian London, and/or go join [livejournal.com profile] get_creative, a very new and very shiny no-pressure, high-creativity challenge/inspiration community. There's no challenge yet, but I'm sure it will be great.

P.S. Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] myemmie! :D

P.P.S. I plan on making more football icons tomorrow, to get myself (and everyone else) stocked for the beginning of the Cup, so if you have any requests, let me know!

*so dead*

If you have any love for Lost's Sayid and/or Sawyer/Sayid and/or cracky picspams, you need to go and take a look at [livejournal.com profile] dreaminoflorien's ongoing picspam/photo love story - Pt. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Seriously, people. So funny.

Music later. Unrelatedly: Am I a bad fan for still not having watched last week's Doctor Who? *ashamed* The days are just rushing by, it seems. It's already Saturday afternoon again? Also, I need to cut back on posting. Tell me if I'm being too spammy, ok?
