herzverstreut_bu: (Misc - berlin is for lovers)
So, tomorrow there is a plebiscite on whether to keep air traffic at Tempelhof airport, as opposed to closing it down in favour of the international airport at Schönefeld, turning the area into a leisure park kind of thing. Conservative parties are for it, ostensibly because it's a historical site and whatnot (who cares that there are plans of making it into a museum, thus rendering the argument void), the governing parties are for closing it, since there's barely any traffic there anyway, and it's one of the terms on which Schönefeld was allowed to be turned into an international airport.

Now, the "Bild", Germany's biggest tabloid, ran a hilarious list of 100 "reasons" why Tempelhof should stay open for air traffic, and I felt the overwhelming need to comment on it. I was going to do it in German, since this is not likely anything that anyone out of Berlin cares about, but the idiocy was too good not to share with the rest of the world, and I like translating.

Some of the 100 best arguments, if by 'best' you mean 'ahahaha, are you kidding me?' )

"Be Tempelhof. Be Berlin."
"Mommy, when I grow up, can I be an airport?" Can't argue with that kind of reasoning.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT I'M SCARED!

Two minutes ago it randomly started storming (should have seen it coming, after the insanely hot day) and this is seriously the worst storm I ever remember seeing. The rain is going pretty much horizontally and I think the cloth on the balcony rails is going to be gone in a minute. Thankfully I had the mind to bring in the other stuff, because there's no way I'm going out there again now. And remember, I'm a person who usually loves storms. Maybe it's going to clear my headache, though.

Someone hold me!! :-S

*so dead*

If you have any love for Lost's Sayid and/or Sawyer/Sayid and/or cracky picspams, you need to go and take a look at [livejournal.com profile] dreaminoflorien's ongoing picspam/photo love story - Pt. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Seriously, people. So funny.

Music later. Unrelatedly: Am I a bad fan for still not having watched last week's Doctor Who? *ashamed* The days are just rushing by, it seems. It's already Saturday afternoon again? Also, I need to cut back on posting. Tell me if I'm being too spammy, ok?

Holy...

*eep* Just watched the news, and now I know why we heard so many sirens tonight - some guy ran riot somewhere at the fringes of the celebrations and stabbed 28 people. No deaths, fortunately, but a couple of them are said to be seriously injured. This is the point where I'm glad we were on the other side of the station, because it was right around the time we went home, and who knows... :-S

That said, the fireworks were the most awesome I have ever seen. We stood on the back side of the new station, so we didn't catch any of the music and only half of the light/laser-show, but - the fireworks! They were huge and beautiful and we were so close that we stood right under them, it felt like we were in the fireworks, or in some sort of star shower. ♥ Literally, because they must have calculated something wrong and a bunch of the fireworks only burned out when they crashed to the ground. It was an adventure. *lol* But so, so worth it! I'll link to photos as soon as I find some.

So, I was taking a break from (so far fruitlessly) browsing job offers and reading OTF Wank, where they were talking about some post about spiders and then went off on a tangent about centipedes and someone posted a link to a video of a giant centipede eating a mouse. Everyone was squicked out.

Me? I went "OMG So awesome! Ok, I feel sorry for the mouse, but that's nature for you, and OMG GIANT CENTIPEDE SO COOL I WANT ONE!! ♥ ♥ ♥" I think they shall now be my third-favourite insect-ish thing, right behind spiders* and praying mantis...ses? And stick insects. Ok, my fourth-favourite. Insects are love.

If you don't mind big crawly things, watch the video here. BEWARE: It's one fucking huge centipede, and one cute, terrified, poor little mousie. If you're not sure you can take that, better don't click. But the centipede is so, so pretty.

*Yes, I know that a spider is not an insect.

Ok, so... yesterday I asked people to request stuff for me to record. I know I would regret it. :)) [livejournal.com profile] url_girl asked me to read out the Care Bear BDSM smut (*looks it up* written by [livejournal.com profile] spiderflower) that I linked some months ago, and unfortunately I can't say no to her. I HOPE YOU KNOW THAT I WOULDN'T DO THAT FOR JUST ANYONE!! ♥

So, the following is Care Bear BDSM smut read in a horrible German accent. If you ever wanted your brain to stop functioning, here is your chance!

Slave Bear of Care-A-Lot, ca. 10MB, Sendspace (You might have to turn up the volume, it's rather low on the recording.)

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] peggin wanted me to read my cracky Queer as Folk Victorian AU:
Untitled Victorian AU or: Dandy Kinney, ca. 12MB, Sendspace

Feel free to keep requesting, despite my protests it's a lot of fun. :)) )

Also, unrelated: The very happiest of birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] blacksatinrose!!

AND OMG VM FINALE TONIGHT I WILL SO DIE IF THE TORRENT ISN'T UP IN THE MORNING!! Also, pleeease, please please don't spoil me!
