01. This visualization of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is beautiful. (And it makes me sad, because it makes you realize how few of these rights are actually observed, across the world but even in our supposedly educated, free Western world. Right to marriage, anyone?)

02. Completely unrelated, a random thought that I had on the train home from work: Which three instruments would you most like to learn how to play? I realized that mine would be the drums, accordion and theremin. *facepalm* Hey, why learn something easy and/or practical?

03. We ended up skipping the Kill Hannah show last night, because we were too beat. Instead we watched "Planet Terror" (I hadn't seen it before, and it's fantastic!) and some Mighty Boosh. I'd say we're the lamest, if we didn't have other stuff lined up. (FOB tomorrow! :D )

04. This tattoo is awesome.

Just FYI...

Two things [livejournal.com profile] nairie, [livejournal.com profile] shivaluna, [livejournal.com profile] ladybanteerin and me discussed earlier tonight. It's kind of random, but I'd love to know how different the preferences are.

Doorbell: "Ding-dong!"
Sandra: [Walks to door, opens it, sees random lady with little kid in her arms standing outside.]
Lady: "Hi!" *[Holds up little girl. Gives me an expectant look.]
Sandra: "..." [Blinks. Waits for... some kind of explanation.]
Lady: "This isn't yours?"
Sandra: "... No."
Lady: "... Oh. Ok then." [Turns around and rings bell next door.]
Sandra: [Closes door.] "Well, that was random."

(I don't know, you probably had to be there.)

01. A Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] sinuous_curve and the same, belatedly, to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] moonix! ♥

02. I have not yet gotten around to watching SPN or The Office, and there don't seem to be any ANTM uploads anywhere. Woe!

03. The actual reason for posting: Dana, Toni and I spent Walpurgisnacht at the Mauerpark, which turned out surprisingly nice and peaceful. Lots of happy people of all subcultural persuasions just hanging out, drinking (2,50 Euros for vodka red bull?!), talking, drumming, some played ball or frisbee or did acrobatics stuff, and several people were giving out free hugs. (One really, really cute punky girl had a sign, but I'm lame and didn't dare asking.) It was all very summery and reminded me of music festivals (now I'm even more bummed that the chances of me getting to one this summer are so low), only with more police *lol* - I took some pictures:

Mauerpark at night, plus random camwhoring )

04. Now to bed - we're having a counseling workshop tomorrow, and for the first time since dropping out of uni I'll be holding a talk, teaching the rest of the group about small, yet effective interventions (as in: counseling techniques, not the kind where you try to get someone to get help). Should be fun! (Again, not being sarcastic - strangely enough I never had problems with public speaking.)

Just now there was a four-man-band randomly marching down our street. They had a trumpet and guitar and accordion and... something else, I only looked when they had already passed our house, and played some really pretty lively tunes. Occasionally they stopped to serenade people looking out of their windows. It kind of made my day. :)
herzverstreut_bu: (TMB - boosh)
1. Happy, happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] prettygood! \o/

2. I cleaned out my wallet today. This is what it contained: tl;dr ) Conclusion: I need to clean it more often.

3. Random meme:

Well, duh. Even if drummers in general weren't the best, dating a drummer would still be pretty convenient, because they could teach me how to play. My dream, let me show you it. *sigh*

4. Random announcement: Mighty Boosh, Russell Brand and random bandom icons coming tomorrow, or maybe on Monday. I also kind of want to write more tutorials, because that was fun. Would anyone be interested? Should I make a poll about what people want to know how to do? Am I too full of myself?
herzverstreut_bu: (24 - Jack)
From the neverending series of "You know you watch too many shows, if..." -

... reading an article on airport security (more precisely, statements that can or can't get you in trouble) you come across the line ""He is going to hijack the aircraft" (false declaration) versus "Hi Jack!" (careless or inflammatory)", and you crack up and only realize after five minutes of laughing that they're not actually refering to someone acting as if Jack Bauer was in the airport.

(I haven't even finished watching season 6 yet, but after how much the first half sucked I don't really feel like it, either.)

I'm ridiculously behind on commenting and flist reading, and I don't even know why. Sorry? And I still haven't caught up with Doctor Who, or finished watching OZ, or that documentary on conflict management in schools, either. (I did get a bunch of real life things done, though, so that's good.) But what I really feel like right now is more bandslash. :( Someone shoot me rec me stuff, please?

ETA: Also, important! A belated Happy Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] gehirnstuerm!! I was determined to wish you one on time, but for some reason I forgot. Sorry! Hope you have a fabulous year ahead of you! :)
herzverstreut_bu: (Misc - Berlin is for lovers)
There's some sort of street party going on here today, with some booth and a small stage. It's a nice idea, I think, trying to bring some sort of positive spirit - Wedding is a relatively low-income, high-crime-rate part of town*, but in our area at least there have been some efforts lately to provide activities for the kids and things like that. (They're having some Turkish kids rapping right now. They're baaaaad, and every lyric I can gather is about "respect" and their oh-so-ghetto life, but they seem to have a bunch of fans. :D )

*This reminds me of a Spiegel article that I was meaning to transcribe for ages. Well, not the whole article, but the part of it that deals with our quarter. Everything described is within one or two streets from where I live, but I really never experienced it as desolate as this article makes it sound: Cut for my crappy translation )

This entry brought to you by "Sandra has nothing better to do. No, really. Stop looking at me like that."

New layout

herzverstreut_bu: (SPN - Giant Sammy)
After a year(? Two? Many? I don't even remember.) I finally changed my layout. I'm sort of really not happy with it, both the header and the layout in general, but it has to do until I find what I need for a proper layout. Incidentally, does anyone know of any source for good quality images that fit a burlesque or carnival theme? Brushes or dingbats with related shapes could be good, too. I've been searching for ages now, but couldn't find anything so far.

(P.S. No, the wish for a carnival/circus/burlesque theme has nothing to do with my new/rekindled love for Panic! At The Disco, more like the other way around. Just wanted to let you know I'm not that far gone yet. Bandom continues to eat my brain, though, so if anyone feels neglected - sorry! :"> It's just one of my random obsessions and surely going to be replaced by something else soon. -ish. Maybe. I guess.)

I thought about this on the bus back from work, and now I'm curious:

What are you wearing on this completely random Monday afternoon (or night, or morning, or whatever it is where you are)?

(Uhm, not meant in a dirty way or anything, I really would like to know.)

Me: jeans, a black shirt that says "Sorry boys, I eat pussy", black socks (or very dark blue, I'm not actually sure) and black fishnet gloves that I put on at work because my hands were cold and then kept on because I thought they fit. Plus my usual silver pendant (with the Cernunnos/priest from the Gundestrup cauldron) and black leather band around my left wrist.

But she changed with medicinal compound
And now he joins in all their games.

*(So the original lyrics spell it "Eccles". Clearly that is a typo.)

(I also have no idea if this isn't maybe old news, but I only recently heard that song again for the first time in ages, and this verse cracked me up.)

I just got a spam mail headed "doom panda". I have masterfully illustrated the first image that came to mind:

Doom doom DOOM! )
herzverstreut_bu: (SPN - Dean - bloody eyes)
... on reading this metaquote about someone's pet octopus escaping their aquarium and crawling around the ceiling at night, your first thought is that your reaction to seeing that would be "OMGWTF I thought the Demon just goes after white-clad women!! *runs*"

:| I need a break.

ETA: This story just broke me. It's Jared/Dean (!!!), but it actually works, and works well, and it's full of angst and angst and more angst and some sweetness and lovely insights into Winchester family dynamics and could-have-beens and I pretty much cried my way through it. Go read.

Note to self: To bring water to boil, the stove should be turned on. :|

Anyways, I feel like iconing, but can't think of anything, so - comment to this post and I'll make you an icon or two based on one of your interests.

(I decide which one, but feel free to nudge me in a direction or provide pictures for one. Also, totally free for all, so comment even if you're just randomly passing by. ;) )

I got some funny spam headlines in the last few days, and I made them into this masterpiece of lyrical genius:

Never seen stuff
You always dreamt to rock hard

We are pure light beings
and very useful for your peniis
we sells Vi-Kodin
Original thing, extra fresh!
Or play an farmhouse

Have sign of literally blabber

The new day is here

Move over, Kristin Thomas.

(My keyboard is still dead-ish, but [livejournal.com profile] evil_trisha borrowed me an old one. :X So once again sorry for the lack of comments lately, copy/pasteing letters is annoying.)

There is wind! Like, the air is moving, and it's vaguely cool, or at least cooler than it was before, and I might actually be able to sleep now. Ok, if those stupid people in the yard stop babbling and... shattering glass? Uhm. Anyway - YAY!

This random announcement was brought to you by "Sandra had too little sleep and is very hyped up about tomorrow, when much fannish fun shall be had with awesome visitors" (Those visitors being [livejournal.com profile] novafairy, [livejournal.com profile] nebulein, [livejournal.com profile] lennongirl (who spontaneously decided to join us for a day, yay!) and [livejournal.com profile] luthien82. (And [livejournal.com profile] spike_wtb, if he even counts as a visitor anymore.) Together with the Berliners, I'm sure much squeeing, chatting and general fun will ensue.

Ok, enough spam. Work tomorrow. *sigh* Just one more little thing - if you feel like telling me your unanonymous honest opinion, here's a meme where you could do so. Yes, I'm an attention whore, why do you ask? ;)

There are fireworks going off somewhere and I can hear, but not see them. No fun. *mopes*

Posted a bunch of new footie icons (mostly really simple ones/bases) here. LESS THAN ONE DAY! *bounces* Yes, I am excited, just in case you hadn't noticed already.

This interview is both awesome (because Jon Stewart pwns that guy) and terrifying (because Bill Bennett's views on gay marriage are so completely DUMB and yet you know that he - and so many others - won't be convinced even by logic *sigh*)

Dooooom!

Dammit! I wanted to post at 06:06 p.m., but now it's 06:09 already. (Edit: Or 17:54, if LJ is to be believed. Hm.) Anyways, no fire or brimstone yet, how boring. And I had to work, after all, even though schizophrenicSatan herself said I wouldn't have to. *pouts*

Uhm, yes. So much for my obligatory 06/06/06 entry. If you want something more interesting (and educational, even!) check out this awesome page full of info about Victorian London, and/or go join [livejournal.com profile] get_creative, a very new and very shiny no-pressure, high-creativity challenge/inspiration community. There's no challenge yet, but I'm sure it will be great.

P.S. Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] myemmie! :D

P.P.S. I plan on making more football icons tomorrow, to get myself (and everyone else) stocked for the beginning of the Cup, so if you have any requests, let me know!

I wish I had a video camera right now, because I'm in love with the sky - there are these huge grey-yellow storm clouds racing low across the sky, and behind it there is half bright blue and sunshine and half a front of really dark, scary thunderstorm clouds. And the storm clouds nearest to the horizon are sort of illuminated from below by the setting sun, making them look like they're almost burning. It looks scary and incredibly beautiful. ♥
