I just watched the SPN finale.

To be completely honest: my reaction to the episode is still mostly "Whatever." Not because it wasn't a good episode, in fact it was pretty fantastic, but (due to the strike, probably) the whole season was so incredibly badly paced that at this point I really wasn't invested in the story arc anymore. Which is sad, because I used to love this show so much, and it still has its brilliant moments, but overall I don't really care anymore. :( I really hope this is going to change again next season. Now for actual episode thoughts:

- The lighting and colours this episode were gorgeous for some reason, especially in the beginning.
- Bobby continues to kick ass, and I might have clutched my heart a bit when he said "Family doesn't end with blood" (or something to that effect).
- I've been getting increasingly annoyed with Dean this season, and as much as I understand where he's coming from, in this episode I just wanted to bitchslap him so many times. Especially with the way he treated Ruby, argh.
- Him and Sam singing in the car, though, was one of my favourite scenes this season, maybe even in the whole show.
- I still don't fully get why they'd represent Lilith, of all beings, as an innocent little girl, but it was still delightfully creepy. I liked Ruby!Lilith, too - "I don't have to answer to puppy chow," hee.
- Seeing Dean being mauled and Sam crying over him was painful, but not as much as I had thought it would be; same goes for Dean in hell. Probably because I know that Dean will have to come back next season somehow, so it's not like a "real" death. I'm really curious how next season will go, though - I'm assuming it will be a few eps of trying to get Dean out of hell and the boys dealing with the aftermath, and then going after Lilith. Basically a rehashing of the YED arc with a different demon, but I wouldn't mind.
- I'm not really surprised Kripke "went there", by the way. He needed some heavy duty cliffhanger as well as a good and highly dramatic point to kick off the next (and hopefully better) season, and I don't know how else he would have been able to accomplish that.

Conclusion: Season 3 had moments of brilliance, a great finale, but left me unsatisfied overall. I still have hopes for season 4, though.

On a completely different note, they announced the selection of players for Germany's national team at the European Football Championship. I haven't been following the Bundesliga closely enough to really pass an informed judgement, but I have to say that I wasn't really surprised they didn't include Timo Hildebrandt. Somewhat sad (what is Lahm going to do without him?), but not surprised. Otherwise... don't know, all my favourites (Odonkor! Schweinsteiger! Lahm!) are still there, there are some that I don't know (three second league players, wow), there are some that I expected (Kuranyi) and some I didn't (Hitzelsperger, don't know why). Overall, I'm just really excited to see how they're going to do and happy to get some international matches again (since I'm kind of blah about our national leagues in general).

Oh my God, Lahm without a Hildebrandt. :(( I've only really ever watched the 2006 World Cup in my life but I LOVE THEMMMMMM.

I know, it's so sad! :( But at least the games are in Austria and Switzerland, so it's not too far if Timo wants to go watch or something...

That's true! He can get all decked out in like a business suit and huge sunglasses and pretend he's not there but be watching Lahm, all Victoria Beckham style.

!!!!

He'd have to hide his hair, of course, but then he can watch wistfully and think of what might have been... OH GOD IMAGINE PHILIPP FINDS A NEW BOYFRIEND PLAYER TO GLOMP AFTER GOALS. And poor Timo sitting in the stands, trying not to cry behind his glasses. IT'S TRAGIC.

WTF. I am not into football slash, stop it, brain.

I totally agree with you on most of the points about SPN. In general, I'm just not nearly as invested as I used to be, which is sort of sad, but eh. Dean has been kind of bugging me lately, too. Which sucks. That's probably the thing that's bothered me the most overall. I'll keep watching though, because like you said, there are still some fantastic moments. (SINGING IN THE CAR! ♥)
