There are fireworks going off somewhere and I can hear, but not see them. No fun. *mopes*

Posted a bunch of new footie icons (mostly really simple ones/bases) here. LESS THAN ONE DAY! *bounces* Yes, I am excited, just in case you hadn't noticed already.

This interview is both awesome (because Jon Stewart pwns that guy) and terrifying (because Bill Bennett's views on gay marriage are so completely DUMB and yet you know that he - and so many others - won't be convinced even by logic *sigh*)

*sigh* And there I thought I wasn't late, for once. *lol* But yeah, Jon Stuart is amazing.

*lol*

But I have to admit that I'm admiring Bennett's courage that he came to the show at all. :D

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. Like, "Come on, you must have known that Jon will rip you apart!" I'm wondering if it's not so much courage as pure stupidity.

MARRY ME, JON!!

Um, yeah, I kinda love the guy a lot. I think my favourite part was when he got annoyed about the slippery slope. All those conservatives go there: 'If you legalize gay marriage, you have to do the same for polygamy!' *headdesk*

That was my favorite part, too! Because what Jon Stewart said was just such the perfect answer -- whether you're attracted to men or to women is something inherent and unalterable; whether or not you want to marry multiple people is a choice.

I mean, personally, if three men and two women want to live together and say all five of them are married to each other, I say let them. But the idea that we would *have* to extend a right based purely on choice just because we've extended a vaguely similar right based on something that is decidedly NOT a choice, is just insane.

Yes! So not a choice. In my family law class, that was THE example of a slippery slope argument, and I was just so glad Jon caught him on that.

Like he said, they've already lost. Assholes.

you should download the whole show. (http://www.mininova.org/tor/332898) they have a long segment on the amendment before the interview (the vid you linked to is also just a clip from the whole interview that ran).

Jon Stewart for President. ♥

Jon Stewart is my absolute favourite person ever in the history of favourite people.
