Icons - Christina Ricci

I wanted to make Angel (the Series) icons - but all the caps I found were bad quality or too dark to work with. Then I thought I'd make some more DW ones - but my muses refused to collaborate. So I picked a random pic of Christina Ricci that I had on my harddrive and signed up for [livejournal.com profile] 10variations again, because it's a nice quick challenge for getting back into the swing of iconizing. These are the results:

All based on this picture. Ressources can be found here.

Feel free to snag. :) Credit is nice, but comments are my crack.

Bonus: I re-did my "What Would Freud Say?" icon, because the old one made me cringe (as do most of my older icons *lol*) but I wanted to have one. Feel free to take, if you want:

(Just for the record: While I agree on some of his theories and his books can be an interesting read, I'm not a big fan of Freud. "WWFS?" is more like a running gag amongst my friends. (And the correct answer, of course, would be: "Penis envy, hysteria, castration anxiety, Oedipus."))

Even Freud had a mother.

And no need for cringing... I loved the old Freud-icon. :) (and I think it's still the funnier one. *g* )

Hm, yeah. (You are aware that the "Tell me about your mother" is a quote from Bill and Ted, right?) But WWFS? fits for more occasions than "Tell me about your mother", which is why I chose that text.

[identity profile] kaoru-is-here.livejournal.com 2006-03-08 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Gosh... I watched "Bill and Ted" when I was 12 or something. *lol* And the memories I have of it are quite foggy.

But didn't you have a set of two Freud-icons, each with a different text? ("Tell me about..." and "What would...") Anyway... I thought the frowing was hilarious. :D

[identity profile] scatterheart.livejournal.com 2006-03-08 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I did... and I honestly never paid attention to the frowning. :))

(Hey, at least the Freud in my new icon looks all "Sooo, what dark secrets do you have? Huh? Bad-ass Freud is going to analyze you, biatch!")

[identity profile] kaoru-is-here.livejournal.com 2006-03-08 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but he's just so very... sinister! o.O With the other one you can at least pretend we'll have a fun together. *lol*

I love 01 and 03 !!!! especially 03 is amazing and well done *g*

[identity profile] scatterheart.livejournal.com 2006-03-08 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
03 is actually my least favourite (next to 05). :)) But thank you!!

[identity profile] paddies.livejournal.com 2006-03-08 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Beautiful icons!! I really love them all. :x:x:x

And since I realized that my feedback sucks ass... I'll try to remedy...

The composition on #1 is absolutely amazing, #3 has the most beautiful coloring ever and #s 6 and 8 are just absolutely perfect (great cropping, coloring, texture-use...).

Oh, and I also love the Freud one too!

It still sucks, but at least I tried! :-)

[identity profile] scatterheart.livejournal.com 2006-03-09 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
;)) Oh Gio, I ♥ ♥ ♥ you. Thank you so much for giving more detailed feedback!! I'm totally not expecting you (or anyone) to (honestly, getting any comments at all makes my day), but it's so good to see what works best for others. :X

Ohhh, so purdy, 6/7 especially! And I love the technique on #5.

because the old one made me cringe (as do most of my older icons

I feel your pain. There's nothing more traumatic for an iconmaker than going back and looking at our old ones. :P

Thank you so much! :X

I'm not really happy with the result of that one. It looked so awesome in my head, but I don't think it works as an icon. :-/

Seriously! When I was cleaning up some of my files earlier this week I came across all the season 2 icons I used to make and I couldn't believe I used to be so proud of those. *cringes* The wrong aspect ratio! The dark- and blurriness! The ugly fonts! Everybody has to start somewhere, I guess, but those are definitely a shame. :))

You did so much with just one picture. They're gorgeous. I'm taking 2 and 6.

[identity profile] lucie-inthesky.livejournal.com 2006-03-09 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
Wow... amazing icons. They each look completely different and have a different feel, and to all come from the very same image? Fabulous.

And oh Freud. I'm still partial to Bill and Ted's Freud, but... well, for the sake of growth and all... I guess this one's pretty great as well.

These are amazing!!! I'm snagging #5&6
